About Us

Welcome!

Companions on the Journey is a spiritual community which seeks to recognize the God/divinity within each of us and within all of us. We gather weekly as an independent, non-hierarchical Eucharistic community dedicated to aligning ourselves with God and healing the separations between us. Each individual’s spirituality is seen as derived from his/her experiences of God, immanent and transcendent, and is illuminated by the teachings of Christ and the wisdom of other spiritual traditions.  We believe that the understanding of different religions and spiritualities demonstrates our interconnectedness, allowing each of us to become more inclusive of others, while broadening our knowledge of the beliefs and customs of others.

Our community sees itself as open, inclusive, participatory, hospitable and loving. A sense of friendship, shared values and spirituality continues to grow among us. As Companions we strive to support each other’s individual spiritual growth and, at the same time, strengthen our community bonds. All may volunteer their help according to their individual talents and abilities. Consensus of the community members guides and determines our decision-making.

Fr. Seán ÓLaoire is the Spiritual Director for this self-sustaining group of about 200 persons. Through homilies and lectures, Fr.Seán inspires and empowers each of us to develop our own cosmologies. As a community we expect to be challenged, stretched and expanded spiritually. We also seek practical guidance for bringing our spiritual understandings into our daily lives.

People of all faiths are welcome to our liturgical services, as well as our community meetings, social events, picnics, potlucks, charitable activities and frequent lectures.  Opportunities for service are numerous both inside and outside the community and are the result of individual members taking the initiative to start a project.  Companions on the Journey actively supports several local and international non-profit projects.
